Jefferson, Rainier and Van Asselt community centers are in line to replace their fossil-fuel equipment and go fully electric. Seattle Parks' package, about $13 million, also covers the Genesee maintenance headquarters and a new roof at Van Asselt. The schedule moved: design now runs to summer 2027 and construction from summer 2027 to fall 2028. Parks notes which buildings go to construction may still change with final costs. Seattle Parks

Across Rainier Valley and Beacon Hill ZIPs 98118, 98144 and 98108 (Seattle addresses), the median home sold for $855K over the last 30 days (72 closings; single-family alone $860K). The median home took 41 days from listing to closing, and there are 5.7 months of inventory on the market, down from 6.2 a week ago.

That moves the area back under the six-month line where the market leans toward buyers; under three months favors sellers. Single-family homes alone are tighter, at 3.7 months, and 19% of homes closed above asking.

One useful thing: clear the drain, not the street

Leaves on a storm grate back water up onto the street and toward basements once the November rain starts. Seattle Public Utilities asks you to clear only the top of the grate, standing on the curb, with a rake or broom, never bare hands and never on a major arterial. Leaves go in the yard waste cart or paper bags; in November SPU collects 10 extra bags free. Still plugged? Call (206) 386-1800. Adopt a drain near you, and SPU lends rakes and leaf claws. That's the week. Reply with anything you want tracked in the Rainier Valley or on Beacon Hill. Next Thursday: Lake Washington Boulevard South heading into winter, and what goes in the yard and food waste cart.
